| Religious groups in Central Sulawesi
For centuries Christians had been the, by far, largest religious group in central-Sulawesi. Recent intra island migration has let to a completely different demographic picture. Today, Moslems constitute the majority with 78.39% of the total population, followed now by Christians (17.20%), Hindus (3.84%) and Buddhists (0.21%). However, the regional distribution of the religious groups varies immensely. Up to now, there is still no statistical data available on the regional distribution according to areas, cities and villages.
